Summary tab

The Summary tab (worksheet) provides an overview of the entire budget. Review this tab before making changes to understand the current state of the budget.

After completing revisions, return to the Summary tab to see how values have changed. This tab is also useful when submitting a budget plan file for leadership to review.

Data sources:

The Summary tab includes data from the following resources:

  • Base Budget – Summary of inputs on Stat_Rev and Expense tabs based on KHASum (set in column U in the ACCT dimension table).
  • New Initiatives – Incremental volumes, revenue, FTEs, and expenses for approved initiatives.
Sections:

The Summary tab includes the following sections:

  • Financial Summary - Displays totals from the other tabs and the contribution margin.

  • Analysis - Includes Statistical Analysis and Hours Analysis, with calculated metrics to help assess the reasonableness of the submitted budget.

Summary Sheet, Income Statement

This table describes the columns on the in the Summary and Analysis columns of the Summary tab.

Column Description
FY [year] Actual The actual amount or statistical volume recorded for the fiscal year.
FY [year] Budget The total amount budgeted for the fiscal year shown in the column header.
FY [year] Projected The projected total amount or statistical volume for the fiscal year based on current actual and planned updates entered for the remainder of the year.
FY [year] Budget (current) The total amount budgeted for the fiscal year. This amount is spread across the monthly budget columns.
FY [year] Budget (monthly) The total amount budgeted for the fiscal year shown in the column header. This value represents the full-year budget and is distributed across the monthly budget columns.
Proj-Bud Variance Amt The difference between the projected amount and the budgeted amount or volume, shown as a dollar value.
Proj-Bud Variance % The difference between the projected amount and the budgeted amount or volume, shown as a percentage.
New Initiatives The incremental impact of approved new initiatives included in the budget.
Final Budget The total budget amount after including new initiatives.
Budget Target The target value or statistical volume used to evaluate budget performance.
Bud-Target Variance % The difference between the final budget and the budget target, shown as a percentage.
[Month-Year] Budget (for example, Oct 26 budget) The portion of the annual budget allocated to the selected month and based on the chosen spread method. These values add up to the FY [Year] Budget.
