Benchmark Update utility

Use the Benchmark Update utility to view filtered and unfiltered results and insert, delete, and update benchmarks by department or entity. This utility lists departments or entities and their associated benchmarks stored in the live Department or Entity Benchmark database tables.

NOTE: Because the live Benchmark table is being converted to Save Type 1, use this utility to make changes to benchmark values.

The new Benchmark table replaces the legacy Benchmark table, which is still available, but only through a browser. You can no longer access the legacy Benchmark table through the Management Reporting Admin Task Pane.

Access the utility in Axiom Assistant

  1. Open the Explorer pane in Axiom Assistant:

    Main > Navigation > Explorer

  2. Navigate to the Benchmark Update utility:

    Reports Library > Management Reporting Utilities > System Setup > Benchmark Update Utility

NOTE: Only Management Reporting Administration users can access this utility.

Access the associated database tables

To update the corresponding Department or Entity tables:

  1. Open the Explorer pane in Axiom Assistant:

    Main > Navigation > Explorer

  2. Go to the System Setup folder:

    Libraries > Table Library > Budgeting > System Setup

  3. Double-click the name of the table you need to update:

    • Benchmark (for Department)

    • Benchmark_Entity (for Entity)

Layout

For departments, this utility is divided into three sections:

  • Benchmarked Departments - Shows departments with associated benchmark values, sorted by department number.
  • Invalid Departments - Shows records related to departments that are no longer valid. If you do not have invalid departments, this section does not appear.
  • Non-Benchmarked Departments - Shows sorted departments that do not have benchmark values.

For entities, this utility is divided into two sections:

  • Benchmarked Entities - Shows entities with associated benchmark values, sorted by entity number.
  • Non-Benchmarked Departments - Shows sorted entities that do not have benchmark values.

NOTE: To update large quantities of benchmarks, open the Benchmark table in \Axiom\Table Library\Budgeting\System Setup.

Refresh variables

The headers and fields in the report are determined when you select either the Department or Entity refresh variable. The fields correspond to the relevant table (Benchmark or Benchmark_Entity).

The following refresh variables are available for this utility:

Refresh variable Description
Select Benchmark Level

Select one of the following to determine which report you want to run:

  • Department - Opens the Department Update Benchmark Utility

  • Entity - Opens the Entity Benchmark Update Utility
Department Dimensions Select one of the dimension fields to display only the benchmarks for the selected department.
Select Dept(s)

Click Choose Value, and then select the check box next to each department you want to update.

This option is available when you select Department on the Select Benchmark Level dropdown.
Select Entity/Entities

Click Choose Value, and then select the check box next to each entity you want to update.

This option is available when you select Entity on the Select Benchmark Level dropdown.

Add a benchmark

  1. Go to a section without benchmark data:
    1. For Department, navigate to the Non-Benchmarked Departments or Invalid Departments section.
    2. For Entity, go to the Non-Benchmarked Entities section.
  2. Locate the row to which you want to add a benchmark.
  3. Update the blue cells on the row with the benchmark values you want to assign.
  4. On the Save Status column, click Save.

    When you add benchmark values to a non-bookmarked or invalid item, it moves to the Benchmarked Departments or Benchmarked Entities section.

Edit a benchmark

  1. Go to the Non-Benchmarked Departments or Non-Benchmarked Entities section.
  2. Update the blue cells with updated benchmark values.
  3. On the Save Status column, click Save.

Delete a benchmark

  1. Go to the Benchmarked Departments or Benchmarked Entities section.
  2. Locate the row for the department whose benchmark values you want to delete.
  3. On the Save Status column, click Delete.
